It’s not what you think. So both halves of my friends can just smooth those feathers back down right now, OK?
My problem? It’s with the law part of it. All this celebration over the government passing yet another law to dictate how we live our lives.
Far better? For NY to have passed a resolution saying, hey, we have no marriage laws. We have no business interfering in personal contracts. We hereby divest ourselves of any interference at all. You want to be married, say you’re married. No more marriage licenses, no more regulations, no more rules.
Instead, whee. We have a fairer rule, no doubt. But a rule nonetheless. And all the celebrating just confirms the entire concept that the government should even have a say over this at all. Bah.
