I don’t want an equal amount of good and bad. Sign me up for more joy and blessings, please, and don’t worry about evening it out with sorrow and woe.
Why should I spend time on things I don’t enjoy just to get balance? I want to obsessively overweight my life toward things that delight and inform and develop. Weigh down the good side of that teeter totter and not worry about ever adding anything to the other side. Screw the constant struggle to find the center point to keep the even keel.
Balance is just a different way of looking at and talking about average. Balance just pulls things to the middle. Balance forces you toward what you think you should be doing rather than what you’re drawn to.
Balance is overrated.
