Ya don’t ask, ya don’t get

One office I worked in, we only had blue and black pens. Oh, how nice it would be to have colored pens to use for editing the press releases, one person mused. Another complained repeatedly about the fact that we didn’t have colored pens to use for editing the press releases.

I went and asked the person who ordered pens if we could get some in another color.

Sure, she said. What colors do you want?

Sometimes changing the world around you is just as simple as asking. Asking nicely, asking the right person, asking the right question.

But asking. Not complaining. Not whining. Not pondering. Asking.

Asking. It does a world good.
