Dealing with blog overload

As I sit here, I have tabs open to edit posts for seven different blogs.

Seven.

Oh, and I have a few more that I’m just not trying to guilt myself into working on at the moment. At least three active, a couple dead and probably a few others I’ve forgotten about.

I think I’m overdoing it.

It wouldn’t be such a problem if I actually was devoted to them, taking them seriously, running them like businesses rather than random projects, consistently executing rather than just starting. It seems I’m forever starting a new project as a way to provide excuses for not giving other ones my all, for putting in the work necessary to see them succeed.

Ideas are worthless unless executed. But execution is far more than just jumping off the starting line. You have to hit the tape at the other end before you can throw up your arms and declare success.

So, as part of my commitment to changing my bad idea hamster habits, I’m shedding some projects, ideas and plain ol’ baggage. The plan is to run lighter, faster and more strategically. And finding the point I want to run to.

See you at the finish line!
